Joint Committee on Regional Collaboration

In August 2016, the executive boards of the Nashville Area MPO and the Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that established a framework for the two organizations to explore ways to enhance coordination among local communities and between regional organizations in Middle Tennessee. The purpose of the Joint Committee is to study options and develop recommendations for improving coordination and decision-making across Middle Tennessee according to a set of shared goals. Members serve on the committee to find opportunites that are mutually beneficial to both organizations and their respective local community. Meeting Frequency: As Needed

Planning Oversight Committee

The Planning Oversight Committee is responsible for monitoring the progress of activities identified the Unified Planning Work Program including the expenditure of funds on consultants contracted on behalf of the MPO work program. When necessary, the committee is responsible for recommending the terms of agreement with the staffing agency selected to administer the MPO program and related planning grants on behalf of the Transportation Policy Board.

The committee includes the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Transportation Policy Board, the chairperson of the Technical Coordinating Committee, a representative of the largest city within each Census-defined Urbanized Area located within the metropolitan planning area, a representative of a municipality located outside of an Urbanized Area, a representative of a county government, and a representative of the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The vice-chairperson of the Transportation Policy Board serves as the Planning Oversight Committee chair.

Technical Coordinating Committee

The Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) works alongside professional staff to develop planning and programming recommendations for the Transportation Policy Board. The TCC consists of administrators, planning directors, and transportation engineers from local governments and transportation related agencies.

Meeting Frequency: First Wednesday of Every Month

Freight Advisory Committee

The Freight Advisory Committee (FAC) was established to guide the MPO's freight planning efforts. The primary responsibility of the committee is provide a forum for public and private-sector stakeholders to work through the complexities associated with freight movement to more effectively guide public investment in transportation infrastructure.

Meeting Frequency: As Needed, Usually Quarterly

Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee

The Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) was established to provide guidance to the MPO on issue related to the non-motorized modes of transportation of transportation. The BPAC is comprised of stakeholders from the local governments, transit agencies, law enforcement, and private non-profits.

Meeting Frequency: As Needed, Usually Quarterly
